Initial ideas and plans

Type of magazine
The genre of my magazine is a pop/chart magazine. I have chosen this magazine because there is a large gap in the market for a pop magazine that isn't initially for teenage girls.

Target audience
My target audience is both female and males from 16+. I have chosen this because there is hardly any other popular 'pop' magazines other than 'Top Of The Pops', which is aimed at teenage girls. I think older teenagers would be interested in this magazine because pop music is the popular music in the charts constantly so there would be a wide target audience for both genders. The social class could be anything from lower to higher class as the price is £1.20 it isn't too expensive as I am aiming it at mainly a teenage audience. The main music interest would be pop and chart music however; some chart music is from different genres so it wouldn't be all pop music. I would be aiming my magazine at all ethnicities.

Price and Frequency of Publication
The price of my magazine would be £1.20 as it is not too expensive for teenagers to buy as that is my target audience. Also, as it is out every two weeks it would work out £2.40 a month if you bought both issues in a month.
Issue Size
The size of my issue would be 55 pages as I wouldn't want my target audience to get bored of reading the magazine and skip pages. Also, as it comes out every two weeks my magazine would be packed with new music information.

Typical content

The typical content of my magazine would be interviews, gig information, the latest music charts; shocking stories of what 'pop' or popular music artists have been doing; although I don't want my magazine to be turned into a gossip magazine so there would be minimal information.
