3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
Question 5: How did you attract/address your audience?
The three people I interviewed all said they would buy my magazine as it looked very appealing to them. I tried to make my front cover look appealing and eye catching by the neon colours I used for my cover lines. I also used a conventional layout of: a main image in the middle of the page, a large masthead at the top of the page and cover lines around the image; to make the magazine look professional.
Mike and Ash said they liked my layout and colour scheme which is good as it appeals to both girls and boys aged 16+; which is my target audience.
I’ve addressed my target audience by referring back to my audience research questionnaire and seeing what my audience wanted in a magazine which was:
· Special offers
· Interesting articles (which appeal for both males and females)
· Information about upcoming albums
· A magazine priced at around £1
· A free gift e.g A poster
I have taken all of my research into account: as my magazine is priced at £1.20, there is an offer on my contents page which involves winning an iPod, on page 46 of my magazine there is a ‘free poster exclusive inside’, and on page 36 there is an article about the ‘hottest artists’. I wanted to take all of my feedback into account as overall my magazine has had positive feedback and the people I interviewed said they would buy my magazine.
I had some constructive criticism as Fraser said he would buy my magazine if it was in a shop window and the neon colours appeals to him because my magazine stood out and looked different. He said the skyline would of looked better if it was bigger; which is overall positive response to my magazine.
I have tried to make my magazine contents page very pop like by using bright colours. In my questionnaire the most popular response to the colours they would most like to have in a magazine were: blue, purple, magenta pink and green; which I incorporated into my contents page and double page spread which the people I interviewed found very eye catching and appealed to them.
Overall I have tried to make my articles, house style and images as appealing to my target audience as possible so it catches their eye and they want to buy it.
7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learned in the progression from it to the full product?
